Chris Bishop

Managing Partner, Slater Heelis

Chris Bishop studied law at Sheffield University and joined Slater Heelis in 1990, quickly gravitating towards all forms of contentious work. During his early career, he specialised in family, personal injury, and housing law but later his focus shifted to commercial dispute resolution, professional negligence, and contentious probate.

In 1998, Chris became an equity partner and it was after the financial crash that Chris stepped into the Managing Partner role, having first undertaken the Higher Diploma in Legal Practice Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. It was then that Slater Heelis embarked on its strategy of growth, involving a series of acquisitions and strategic appointments.

Chris is deeply engaged in various not-for-profit organisations, enriching his perspective beyond the confines of law. His roles include serving as a Trustee for the charity HUGS, contributing as a board member for the arts company Quarantine, and participating as a Governor for Sixth Form Connell College. Additionally, he acts as an ambassador for Be the Business and Greater Manchester Youth Network, furthering his commitment to social impact and community welfare. Through these diverse involvements, Chris gains insights into broader societal dynamics and cultivates a holistic understanding of the world around him.
